December 1, 2017
The Currituck Beach Lighthouse and the Outer Banks Conservationists invite you to celebrate 142 years of light with them on Thursday, December 1, 2017.
The lighthouse was the last of the great brick towers built on the North Carolina coast. Its first order Fresnel lens was first illuminated on December 1, 1875, lighting the “dark space” between Cape Henry and Bodie Island lighthouses.
To commemorate the event*, please come climb as our guest anytime from 11am-4pm! Please come! Feel free to invite/bring friends!
December 1, 2017 will be the lighthouse’s last day open for the 2017 season. The tower will reopen for climbing March 2018.
*You can also commemorate the tower’s 142nd year with a season pass for unlimited climbs, available for purchase for individuals and families, which also includes unlimited visits to Island Farm on Roanoke Island.
