143rd Birthday- Free Climb Day
December 1 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Currituck Beach Lighthouse and Outer Banks Conservationists invite you to celebrate 143 years of light with them on Saturday, December 1, 2018.
The lighthouse was the last of the great brick towers built on the North Carolina coast. Its first order Fresnel lens was first illuminated on December 1, 1875, lighting the “dark space” between Cape Henry and Bodie Island lighthouses.
To commemorate the event*, please come climb as our guest anytime from 11am-4pm. Feel free to invite/bring friends.
December 1, 2018 will be the lighthouse’s last day open for the 2018 season. The tower will reopen for climbing March 2019.
*You can also commemorate the tower’s 143rd year with a season pass for unlimited climbs, available for purchase for individuals and families, which also includes unlimited visits to Island Farm in Manteo.
