OBX Brewtag is a family-friendly celebration of flight and beer and will feature a Kids Zone, which includes the Kitty Hawk Kites Portable Rock Wall, various arts & crafts activities and more.
What happens when you attach a keg to a flying machine and toss it off a 20-foot flight deck? You get the OBX Brewtäg on October 24, 2015.
A celebration of flight and beer, OBX Brewtäg is modeled after the whimsical and entertaining Red Bull Flutag, translated to “flying day” in German. With OBX Brewtäg, the general premise is the same, although rather than human-powered flying machines, Brewtäg contestants will be competing to see who can launch and fly an empty 1/6 keg barrel the furthest.
The cost to compete at OBX Brewtäg is only $25 and the sky is the limit as to how creative your homemade flying contraption can be! Individuals and teams are welcome.
Admission to the event is FREE to the general public. A rather crafty selection of local and regional beer and food will be available for purchase that day. This family-friendly event will also feature plenty of activities for the kiddos!
Proceeds from the Outer Banks Brewtäg benefit The Rogallo Foundation. The Rogallo Foundation was created to honor Francis and Gertrude Rogallo, inventors of the flexible wing; preserve their priceless records, artifacts, and research; interpret their incredible story; and protect this legacy of free flight for millions of people in all the Nations of the world; to stimulate and support research and education in aerodonetics the science of gliding and soaring flight and low speed aerodynamics.
