Whalehead Kid’s Day in the Park

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Friday, repeating until August 23, 2019
This FREE outdoor event will include children’s activities and family lawn games. The activities will include a bounce house, Will You Escape the OBX’s “The Adventure” pirate ship, Kitty Hawk Kites will host a family fly/kite making and you may even meet a fireman and take pictures in the firetruck! After all that fun, cool off with some ice cold refreshments. These activities will be available starting June 20th through August 15th, from 10AM – 3PM (Excluding July 4th).
“THE ADVENTURE” pirate ship will be located in Corolla at the Whalehead Historic Corolla Park on Thursdays from 10-3 starting June 20th through Mid Aug 2019. Admission will be provided by the Currituck County Travel and Tourism Office at NO COST to visitors. Unlike at our main location in Point Harbor, mixed groups of 6-8 people will be taken aboard the ADVENTURE for 30-45 mins of fun. The ADVENTURE ship is meant to be a family experience and is set at an EASY/MED difficulty level, so there is something for everyone! Reservations are first come first serve, so come sign up for your adventure time early then enjoy the festivities on the grounds. For your safety, during inclement weather the Adventure ship will be closed. The Adventure ship is not handicap accessible. Come and enjoy a family fun day, making memories that will last a life time!
On Thursdays, Whalehead Kid’s Day also features a special children’s tour of Whalehead, the “Joan’s Way Tour”. The Joan’s Way Tour will run June 20th – August 15th, 3PM – 4PM (excluding July 4th), cost is $5.00. This tour is limited to 30 spaces. Please reserve your spot in advance. “Joan’s Way” is named for the daughter of the Whalehead owner’s valet, Mr. Starkey. “Joan” takes children on a tour of the mansion describing what life was like when she was a child there in the 1920s. At the end of the tour, children will make a keepsake to take home. This tour is appropriate for ages 6 – 12. Please call 252-453-9040 to make your reservation.
